How Far Will The Wheels Sit Out?

The lower the ET number, the further the wheel sits out from the vehicle. How much further these 15x7 wheels will sit out depends on the width and offset of the wheels currently fitted to your Vitara.

Use the factory wheel and tyre combinations below as a guide.

If You Have 15x5.5J ET25 Factory Wheels

These are commonly fitted with 195/80R15 tyres.

Compared with a 15x5.5J ET25 factory wheel, the outside edge of the new 15x7 wheel will sit approximately:

• ET10: 34mm further out per side
• ET0: 44mm further out per side
• ET-15: 59mm further out per side
• ET-30: 74mm further out per side

If You Have 16x6J ET25 Factory Wheels

These are commonly fitted with 205/70R16 tyres.

Compared with a 16x6J ET25 factory wheel, the outside edge of the new 15x7 wheel will sit approximately:

• ET10: 28mm further out per side
• ET0: 38mm further out per side
• ET-15: 53mm further out per side
• ET-30: 68mm further out per side

If You Have 16x6.5J ET18 Factory Wheels

These are commonly fitted with 215/65R16 tyres.

Compared with a 16x6.5J ET18 factory wheel, the outside edge of the new 15x7 wheel will sit approximately:

• ET10: 14mm further out per side
• ET0: 24mm further out per side
• ET-15: 39mm further out per side
• ET-30: 54mm further out per side

Not sure which wheels you have? Check the tyre size and, where possible, the wheel size and offset stamped into your existing wheel. The figures above refer to common factory specifications and your vehicle may have a different wheel fitted.

Choosing Your Offset

The lower the ET number, the further the wheel will sit out. Because the Vitara was supplied with different factory wheel widths and offsets, the same 15x7 wheel can give a very different result depending on which original wheel it replaces.

For this reason, we recommend using the relevant comparison above rather than choosing an offset based on the ET number alone.

Wheel & Tyre Clearance

As a general rule of thumb with Suzuki 4x4s, moving the wheel approximately 30mm further out per side can usually be achieved before clearance around the wheel arches, mudflaps and bodywork starts to become more of a consideration.

This is only a general guide and tyre choice makes a significant difference. Tyre width, overall tyre diameter, tread design and sidewall shape can all affect clearance. Suspension height and other modifications to the vehicle will also affect how much room is available.

Once the wheel is moved more than approximately 30mm further out, extra attention should be paid to tyre clearance around the wheel arches and mudflaps, especially when steering on full lock or when the suspension is compressed.

Important: The measurements above refer to the position of the wheel itself. The actual outer position and clearance of the tyre will depend on the width and design of the tyre fitted.
