Fitment
- Suzuki Grand Vitara – 1999 to 2005
Please note: Many Grand Vitara models were originally supplied with 16" wheels. These 15" wheels are for customers specifically wanting to fit a 15" wheel. Please check that a 15" wheel provides suitable clearance around the brakes on your particular model before ordering.
How Far Will The Wheels Sit Out?
The Grand Vitara was supplied with different factory wheel specifications, so how much further these wheels sit out depends on which wheels your vehicle originally came with.
Two common factory 16" wheel specifications are shown below to make choosing your new offset easier.
If You Have 16x6.5J ET25 Factory Wheels
These are commonly fitted with 215/65R16 or 215/70R16 tyres.
Compared with a 16x6.5J ET25 factory wheel, the outside edge of the new 15x7 wheel will sit approximately:
- ET10: 21mm further out per side
- ET0: 31mm further out per side
- ET-15: 46mm further out per side
- ET-30: 61mm further out per side
If You Have 16x7J ET5 Factory Wheels
These are commonly fitted with 235/60R16 tyres.
As the factory wheel and replacement wheel are both 7J wide, the difference is purely down to the offset:
- ET0: approximately 5mm further out per side
- ET-15: approximately 20mm further out per side
- ET-30: approximately 35mm further out per side
Not sure which wheels you have? Check the tyre size and, where possible, the size and offset stamped into your existing wheel. Grand Vitara wheel specifications can vary depending on model, engine and market.
Choosing Your Offset
The lower the ET number, the further the wheel will sit out from the vehicle.
- ET10 – closest to the original wheel position
- ET0 – mild increase in outward stance
- ET-15 – noticeably wider off-road stance
- ET-30 – very wide, aggressive stance
Wheel & Tyre Clearance
As a general rule of thumb with Suzuki 4x4s, moving the wheel approximately 30mm further out per side can usually be achieved before clearance around the wheel arches, mudflaps and bodywork starts to become more of a consideration.
This is only a general guide and tyre choice makes a significant difference. Tyre width, overall tyre diameter, tread design and sidewall shape can all affect clearance. Suspension height and modifications to the vehicle will also affect the available space.
Once the wheel is moved more than approximately 30mm further out, extra attention should be paid to clearance around the wheel arches and mudflaps, particularly when steering on full lock or when the suspension is compressed.
Important: The measurements above refer to the position of the wheel itself. The actual position of the outside of the tyre will depend on the width and design of the tyre fitted.
Classic Modular 4x4 Style
The black modular steel wheel gives the Grand Vitara a wider and more purposeful 4x4 appearance while retaining the simple and rugged construction of a steel wheel.
